The Light Within

The Light Within

I was recently home for Christmas break and I had the honor of attending my brother-in-law men’s bible study.  Once I arrived I found that I was not the only guest in attendance that day.  Another guy I used to go to school with was also in town visiting family for Christmas break and decided to pay the bible study a visit as well.  During a discussion he brought up the idea of walking within the Light and how clean he feels when he lives his live according to how God wants us to live.  He has been living his life for God many years now and I only within the past two years.  Him and I were both decent athletes in high school and both lived the lifestyle that goes along with it.  (Partying, girls, booz, etc) After the bible study he said something to me that is crazy to think about but he was spot on.  He said he remembers a time about 5 years back when he had a chance to witness to me how God had changed his life.  How when he fully invested 100% of himself in a relationship with Him, the love, the peace, the grace . . . was just overwhelming . . . but yet he felt awkward and didn’t know how I would react.  We grew up going to church together, playing sports, hanging out, . . .  but yet it felt too strange for him to bring up how he found God!!  He felt awkward and that feeling was probably right, because at that time I am sure I would have just given him a nice smile and told him thanks, but no thanks.  It might not have ended how he wanted it to back then, but I guess what I am trying to say is we need to share our faith with reckless abandon.  When did the world transform into a place where it is weird to talk about our creator, to talk about the reason why we are here?  Jesus says this about the Light Within:

Luke 11:33

“33 No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl.  Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light”

Let’s not hide our light within, but instead put our relationship on a stand so that others can see why you are the way you are which will then inspire them to find the light themselves.
