I Tell You the Truth | John 8:34

I Tell You the Truth | John 8:34

When reading the bible I noticed Jesus said the phrase “I tell you the truth . . .” numerous times during His ministry.  I don’t know about you, but when I hear the son of God say, “I tell you the truth . . .”,  I figure it is a good time to listen and try to understand what He is referring to.  Today I will analyzing John 8:34.

34 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Sin has a way of enslaving us and controlling our actions.  Sometimes I am overcome and fall prey to temptation.  After I commit the sin I sometimes reflect as to the reason why I would do such a thing.  Usually it is because I did not put my trust and strength in Jesus.  I depended on myself and fell prey to the lies of the evil one.  Other times I have resisted  Satan because I prayed and recognized the way out that God had provided me.  (He always gives us a way out, it is up to us to choose).  Jesus is all that I need.  He not only has set me free from sin but also the world in general.  What a fantastic feeling I felt the first time “I got it”, the first time I recognized what this life is about.  It is not about me, it is about Him.  Ever since I have recognized this simple fact, life has become a lot less complicated.

Thank you Jesus, I love you!!!!

  1. I remember the first time I “got it” I was so amazed how I could hear & see what had been presented to me all along but I never heard or saw. It was like a veil had been lifted and I was so happy. My choices became so clear of what I had to do to get myself “right” with God. I had the fortitude to go forward and do it,with the Trinity’s help. Sometimes I still become emotional during Mass when I consider all my blessings. I wish I could’ve expressed myself better to my children. Maybe I’ll do better with my grandchildren!? You are right it is ALL ABOUT HIM.

  2. I think that the greatest pleasure I have in life is to share with other Christians about the Lord, and I love to hear of how they first received Jesus into their hearts and where He has brought them this far. The Lord is doing marvelous works in each one of us and through us. He works in each one of us differently as He sees what we have need of. These are miracles He is working in us as He changes us from glory to glory. I love the Lord with all my heart, and the changes I see He has made in me. God is so good!!!
