30 for 30 Day 26 | 1 Corinthians 1:18-31

30 for 30 Day 26 | 1 Corinthians 1:18-31

30 for 30 is a daily walk with Christ which covers thirty small sections of scripture over thirty days.  The premise of the study is to really slow down and reflect on small snippets of scripture.  Today will be focused on Corinthians 1:18-31

Christ the Wisdom and Power of God

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.  19 For it is written:  “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”  20 Where is the wise man?  Where is the scholar?  Where is the philosopher of this age?  Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?  21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.  22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foollishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.

26 Brother’s, think of what you were when you were called.  Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.  27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.  28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things-and the things that are not-to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.  30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.  31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Questions:

What was the key verse from the passage, the one that jumped off the page speaking directly to you?

Verse 30 jumped out at me . . . “It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.”  God loves us sooo much more than we can even begin to comprehend.  He sent his only son, Jesus Christ to be “our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.”  It is because of God the father that we are now in Christ Jesus.  Jesus is the Way, to the one who had sent him, our God the father.

Are there any actions to take in my own life to better serve God?

There is alway room to become more humble in my life, build others up.

Is there an example for me to follow?

Pay attention to the “foolish” things and people that we encounter, they might just be used as a hand picked tool of God.

Have a different verse jump out at you, let me know which one and why—–Post a Comment!

  1. TYPO ERROR…SECOND TO LAST SENTENCE IN YOUR ANSWER TO WHAT JUMPED OUT AT U….YOU HAVE NOT AND SHOULDN'T IT BE NOW? I DO REALLY ENJOY THIS LINK THOUGH…I NEVER REALLY LOOKED AT THIS SCRIPTURE SO DEEP BEFORE…THANK YOU

    • Nice Catch! I corrected the error. Also, thanks for sharing!!! This is a study the Church I attend started. I too find it very rewarding to look at scripture this way as it speaks directly to you personally. I also started a new series where I am going to take a look at each time Jesus said,"I tell you the truth . . ." Hope to hear your thoughts on that as well!
