30 for 30 Day 24 | Philippians 2:1-13

30 for 30 Day 24 | Philippians 2:1-13

30 for 30 is a daily walk with Christ which covers thirty small sections of scripture over thirty days.  The premise of the study is to really slow down and reflect on small snippets of scripture.  Today will be focused on Philippians 2:1-13

Joy in Serving

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being in one spirit and purpose.  3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.  4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.  5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:  6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.  8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-even death on a cross!  9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence-continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

What was the key verse from the passage, the one that jumped off the page speaking directly to you?

Verse 2 was the key verse that spoke to me, “then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being in one spirit and purpose.”  I mentioned on Day 13 of this study that I pray that “What pains Him, pains Me.”  I believe once we are in sync with God He opens our eyes and truly allows us to see, He unplugs our ears to finally allow us to hear.  This  brings us complete joy by being one in spirit and purpose with our creator.

Are there any actions to take in my own life to better serve God?

Being in the fast lane for most of my life has made me a very competitive person.  I had always st rived to be the best, to show that I was better than others.  It is a tough thing for me to give others the spotlight, but I am getting much better at it and to be honest, it brings me complete joy which makes it that much easier.

Are there any new thoughts about God?

God speaks to us individually through scripture.  That is what I found so interesting during this study.  What I thought to be a key verse has been completely different than what had jumped out at someone else.  To become closer with God we must continually study the scripture to allow Him to speak to us and to guide us.

Have a different verse jump out at you, let me know which one and why—–Post a Comment!

  1. verse 3 stood out for me. i don't consider any person better than me, nor i better than anyone else. i look at us all as EQUAL. in my line of work i see ALL walks of life. poor, piss poor, weathy, super weathy, middle class etc. i try to live by golden rule. BUT i find special feeling….love…. by interacting with those that society would consider 'outcast'. i don't know what it is, but my whole life…as far as i can remember…i was drawn to those that the "cool" world would consider 'uncool'. i want 'them' to know that they are just as good and "cool" as everyone else. NOT saying i'm 'cool', but some think i am (which embarrases me), but if i can use this "cool" status to promote Jesus…than by golly i will. It's all about love folks.
