30 for 30 Day 19 | Psalms 63

30 for 30 Day 19 | Psalms 63

30 for 30 is a daily walk with Christ which covers thirty small sections of scripture over thirty days.  The premise of the study is to really slow down and reflect on small snippets of scripture.  Today will be focused on Psalms 63

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.  2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.  3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.  4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will life up my hands.  5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.  6 On my bed I remember you;  I think of you through the watches of the night.  7 Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.  8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.  9 The who seek my life will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth.  10 They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals.  11 But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God’s name will praise him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

What was the Key Verse, the one that jumped off the page at you?

Verse 5 speaks to me, “My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods”.  I it crazy how much time I wasted trying to pursue things that wouldn’t ever fulfill me . . . more money, more partying, more <fill in the blank>.  Nothing fulfills our souls like our God.  If you can eliminate all that “stuff” that stands between you and a joyous relationship with God, you will never be happier in your life.  It wasn’t until I stopped wasting time pursuing things that don’t matter and putting 100% of my efforts into building a relationship with God that I finally had peace and finally had a satisfaction with my life.  What the world can give you will never be enough, there will always be something newer, better, and bigger to keep you treading water leaving you frustrated because it is impossible to quench a thirst for such things.

Is there Sin to confess?

I am definitely guilty of pursuing the world’s perception of success.  I did everything I could to get the bigger house, better car, and the hefty bank account.  It wasn’t until I succeeded in everything I set out to accomplish that I realized, it was a lie.  I wanted to be happy, wanted to be fulfilled . . . I was not.  If you are reading this and are in the same boat I was in, LISTEN TO ME:  Surrender to the Lord and you will gain peace.  When I say this I don’t mean, throw a few more dollars in the collection this weekend.  I don’t mean give God the scraps of your life.  What I do mean is make God the #1 priority in your life. Put Him in the driver’s seat and you will go for a ride that you won’t want to end.

Are there any New Thoughts about God?

God is truly the only thing that can satisfy.

As always, would love to hear your thoughts . . . Leave a Comment

  1. true dat!! i mentioned earlier mikey of a similar experience i was having. the mantra "doesn't matter what you have…money, sex, drugs, partying,property…anything/everything worldly…doesn't amount to crap!! need God first/last in life, alpha/omega. just take a look out west. alot of these hollywood stars have it all…..BUT have NOTHING! you read and hear about it on a daily basis. this past month or two i've been struggling on a personal level..trying to 'fix' things myself with no avail. well last week i asked God to help and He put this thought in my head….no Jesus, no Peace…know Jesus, know peace. ain't no surprise…..i had the best week in many months!!! lol, go figure. speaking of funny, in your entry you speak of putting God in the drivers seat. did you ever see those license plates that say 'God is my co-pilot'? if thats the case….move over buddy and let HIM drive!!! love to all. e

    • Everytime I see one of those bumper stickers I want to draw a big X over the "Co-" so it reads "God is my Pilot"

      Thanks for sharing
